CAIRO, 26 August 2019: World champion Farida Osman added a new medal to the Egyptian delegation participating in the African Games currently held in Morocco.

Farida Osman won the silver medal of the 50m freestyle in the swimming competition. She took the 50 meter in just 25.6 seconds, and outperformed South African Irene Gallagher.

The medal is the fourth for Farida Osman in the African Games after she won the gold medal of 100 meters butterfly, gold 50 meters butterfly and silver 100 meters freestyle. Also, the brilliant Egyptian swimmer Ali Khalafallah won a new gold medal.

The Egyptian delegation participated in the opening ceremony of the African Games held in the Moroccan city of Rabat until 31 August.

The opening ceremony was held at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium in Rabat amid the presence of sports ministers and heads of Olympic committees of the 54 participating African countries.

Hisham Hatab, President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee and Eng. Sherif El-Erian, Secretary General of the Olympic Committee, were present at the opening ceremony.

Eng. Basil Abdullah, a member of the Board of Directors of the Olympic Committee headed of the Egyptian delegation in the opening ceremony, Yahya Dabes, a member of the Board of Directors of the Olympic Committee and Vice-President of the delegation, and Dr. Abdulaziz Ghoneim, a member of the Board of Directors of the Olympic Committee.



The Egyptian flag was raised at the opening ceremony by Mostafa El Gamal and Dina Musharraf.
