CAIRO – 23 August 2019: Al Ahly face South Sudan’s Atlabara on Friday night at the second leg of the Preliminary round of CAF Champions League.

The first leg, played on 11 August, at Borg El Arab stadium ended with a 4-0 victory for Al Ahly.

Despite playing the first leg at Borg El Arab stadium, it is considered the away game for Al Ahly as both teams agreed to play the two legs in Egypt.

Al Ahly new signings, Mahmoud Metwally and Mohamed Magdy known as Afsha, who joined the team this summer are expected to be at the team’s starting line-up for the first time.

Al Ahly will play the first game under their caretaker manager, Mohamed Youusif, who took charge of the team following Martin Lasarte’s departure.

The Uruguayan manager was sacked after Al-Ahly 1-0 loss to Pyramids at the Egyptian Cup.

Al-Ahly’s expected line-up for the game consists of: Aly Lotfy, Ahmed Fathy, Metwally, Ramy Rabia, Mahmoud Wahid, Hamdy Fathy, Afsha, Amr El Solia, Junior Ajayi, Hussein El Shahat and Salah Mohsen.

Al Ahly are searching for their 9th CAF Champions League title. The team was so close to win the title in 2017 and 2018 but lost the final to Esperence and Wydad Casablance respectively.
