CAIRO – 11 June 2017: Christian Pulisic scored two goals, leading the U.S. national football team to beat Trinidad and Tobago 2-0 in the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) 2018 World Cup qualifiers on June 9. The win helped the U.S. reach the third place in its qualification group.
The U.S. failed to open the score with few early shots on the goal, but in the second half Pulisic scored the first goal in minute 53. Eight minutes later he scored the second one to secure a win for the U.S.
U.S. coach Bruce Arena was happy with the team’s performance. "These games are tough, and to walk away with three points and two goals, we've started off 2017 in pretty good shape,” ESPNFC reported him as saying. “I'm pleased at this point."
Arena praised Pulisic’s performance and described the player as an “exceptional talent.”
Pulisic made his debut for the U.S. national team against Guatimala in March 2016. He has since appeared in 15 international matches for the U.S. team. Pulisic plays for Borussia Dortmund in Germany and is considered by critics to be one of the most skillful young talents in the world.
