Salah sends condolences to National Cancer Institute victims’ relatives

CAIRO, 5 August 2019: Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah commented on the incidents that happened on Monday early hours. A deadly multi-vehicle crash that hit Central Cairo late Sunday, leaving 19 killed and 30 injured.

Salah said in his blog on Twitter: "My full support and condolences to the families of victims and victims of the explosion of the Oncology Institute."

The Attorney General ordered a team of prosecutors to head to the crash site that took place near the Cairo University-affiliated National Cancer Institute in Kasr al-Ainy area in Giza, and to carry out required examination to stand on the causes of the accident.

The Health Ministry and Cairo University issued statements that the accident happened after a wrong-driving car crashed into three other vehicles, causing a loud explosion, and leaving behind many deaths and injuries from the pedestrians.

The blast was said to have taken place near the administrative building of the cancer hospital, away from the patients’ department. Several bodies have re-assured that the patients and the workers inside the Cancer Institute were not affected by the accident.

A total of 42 ambulance vehicles were deployed to the crash site immediately to transfer injuries to receive needed treatment, and that there was a bag of human remains, according to Health Ministry Spokesperson Khaled Megahed.

“There are around four seriously injured cases that were registered into the intensive care unit, while other injuries varied between mild to moderate bone break. There are different levels of burns, and cuts and bruises across the injuries’ bodies,” Megahed explained.
