Zamalek to play Egyptian league, African league games at Cairo stadium

CAIRO – 4 August 2019: In Zamalek's statement on their official website, it was confirmed by the Cairo Giants that Cairo International Stadium officials sent them a letter of approval to use the stadium for the upcoming 2019-2020 season.

Ali Darawesh, the executive manager of the Cairo International stadium, stated in the approval letter that timings and scheduling for the matches will be decided after the summer as the stadium will be going through refurbishment.

Cairo International Stadium was previously used during the African Cup of Nations, mostly for the Egyptian National team. It also hosted the AFCON final between Algeria and Senegal.

Zamalek had a disappointing end to the season, losing the Egyptian League title to fierce rivals, Al-Ahly ; however, they did achieve the African Confederation Cup.
