CAIRO – 2 August 2019: Argentinean giants, River Plate and Boca Juniors, have reached the quarter finals at Copa Libertadores and they could face each other at the semi-finals.
River Plate, the defending champions, will face Paraguay’s Cerro Porteño while Boca Juniors is expecting a tough clash against LDU Quito from Ecuador.
The continental competition could witness another Super Clasico if both Argentinean clubs made it to the semis.
River Plate and Boca Juniors met at the competition’s Final last year and River Plate managed to win the title.
The first leg in La Boca ended with a 2-2 draw while the second leg in River Plate’s stadium was canceled after conflicts erupted between both teams’ fans.
South American Federation decided to play the second leg in Madrid where River won the title with a 3-1 victory.
On the other hand, Brazil secured a spot at the final as four Brazilian clubs reached the quarter finals and the football fans in Brazil expect two big games when Flamengo face Internacional at the first game while Palmeiras will play against Gremio.
