CAIRO - 18 July 2019: The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that South African referee Victor Gomes will not officiate the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)'s final between Algeria and Senegal, set for Friday at Cairo International Stadium.

Instead, Cameroonian referee Alioum Alioum with two of his assistant referees; Evarist Menkouande and Elvis Nguegoue - also coming from Cameroon - will handle Africa's biggest match.

The referee change comes as a surprise for CAF had announced on Wednesday on their social media platforms that Gomes would be the man in the middle for the biggest game on the continent.
