CAIRO - 11 July 2019: Senegal coach Alio Cisse stressed that his team’s victory over Benin, on Wednesday in the quarter-finals of the 2019 African Cup of Nations, came because of patience.
"We faced a tough team that stood up against big teams, I knew the game would be difficult," the former Senegalese captain told the press.
"We did not play well in the first half, but I congratulate the players who were patient until we scored the goal of victory," he added.
Senegal defeated Benin and are waiting for the winner from Tunisia vs Madagascar match which is scheduled on Thursday.
Senegal reached the semi-final for the first time since 2006 when they were knocked-out against Egypt.
Senegal is considered one of the title winner favorites, their people’s hopes in their captain, Sadio Mane, are huge.
