CAIRO, 7 July 2019: After the exit of Egypt, everyone is shocked by the elimination of Egypt from the 16th round but the rest of AFCON matches are still there.
AFCON’s 16th round third day comes with two matches, Algeria vs Guinea & Madagascar vs Democratic Republic of Congo.
Madagascar vs DRC
On April 2016, Nicolas Dupuis was appointed as Madagascar coach; and his first match was against DRC. Then, he lost 1-6 in his first match. But now, two teams face each other again & this time in AFCON 16th round.
Madagascar qualified for this round after leading its group by seven points over Nigeria. DRC came third in their group after Egypt & Uganda. The match will be at 06:00 p.m. on Alexandria stadium, which will host its last match in the tournament.
Algeria vs Guinea
Out of four teams qualified for this round as a third-placed, two teams have won; Benin over Morocco & South Africa over Egypt. But this time, Guinea will have to face the strongest team in AFCON; Algeria.
Algeria lead their group with nine points, scored six goals as best attack line in the tournament, their midfielder, Ismail Bennasser, was chosen as Best Player in AFCON in the groups stages and their coach, DjamelBelmadi, was selected as Best Coach of the same stage.
Both teams met once in 1980, Algeria won then 3-2.
The match will be held at 30 June stadium at 09:00 p.m. CLT.
