CAIRO –9 June 2017: The Portuguese Real Madrid defender Pepe plans to leave the club in the summer transfer window, after he club refused to offer the 34 year old a two-year contract. In an interview with El Partizado de COPE radio station on Monday, Pepe said the club hadn’t acted correctly in their negotiations with the player. “That annoyed me,” he said.
Pepe spent 10 years in Real Madrid after arriving from the Portuguese club FC Porto. He was a permanent fixture in the starting team for a long time.
Real Madrid’s management has since reacted, saying they were disappointed by Pepe’s comments, Tribal Football reported on Thursday.
Paris Saint Germain, Inter Milan and other English clubs have shown interest in Pepe for the upcoming season.
During his time with Madrid, Pepe won three La Liga titles, three Champions League titles and two Copa del Rey titles.
