Man City signs Ederson

Cairo-9 June 2017: Manchester City announced they have signed the young Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson from Benfica, Ederson cost Man City 40 million Euros according to the Guardian on Thursday.

In his first interview as part of the team, Ederson said “Manchester City has an amazing squad. I think they managed to have a good season, Next season, we will have to be focused to achieve the goal of winning trophies,”
according to the club’s official website.

Man City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, said they are “delighted to bring Ederson to Manchester City. He is one of the best young goalkeepers in the Europe and he is an important addition to the squad for next season and the coming seasons.”

Ederson will be the fourth Brazilian in the Man City squad, alongside Gabriel Jesus, Fernandinho and Fernando.

Ederson joined Benfica when he was 15 and he left the Portuguese giants to play in small teams in Portugal Ribeirao and Rio Ave. He rejoined Benfica in 2015 and earned a starting place in the team.

Ederson is the second big signing by Man City this year after Bernardo Silva, also a former Benfica player.
