CAIRO – 3 June 2019: Liverpool Egyptian winger, Mohamed Salah, and his teammates celebrated the UEFA Champions League title on Sunday with the club fans.
The team delegation, arrived on Sunday, and paraded through the city's centre to celebrate the title with thousands of Liverpool fans who lined the streets to congratulate the champions.
“Yesterday was surreal. Thanks to everyone for making the city feel like... Anfield!” Salah tweeted on Monday.
Salah played a massive role in the evolution of Liverpool since he joined the team in 2017 summer.
Salah won the Premier League Golden Boot Award twice in a row and he led his team to win the UEFA Champions League title this season.
Salah opened the score after two minutes from the penalty spot and Liverpool Belgian striker, Divock Origi, added te second goal before the final whistle to secure his team’s victory.
Liverpool have had an outstanding season which ended with achieving the Champions League title.
Liverpool’s victory put an end to 14 years of suffering in Europe as the team’s last European title was in 2005 when they defeated AC Milan on penalty-shootouts after the game ended with a 3-3 draw in Istanbul and their historic captain, Steven Gerrard, lifted the club’s fifth Champions League title.
Liverpool were also sensational at the domestic league as they reached 97 points but finished second behind the winners, Manchester City who reached 98 points.
