CAIRO – 15 May 2019: Aston Villa defeated West Bromwich Albion on penalty shoot outs during the game played at The Hawthorns Stadium on Tuesday night.

Aston Villa’s Egyptian defender, Ahmed El Mohammady, faced his teammate Ahmed Hegazi who plays for West Bromwich.

West Bromwich achieved a 1-0 win at the regular time thanks to Craig Dawson’s goal after 29 minutes to equalize the score of their 2-1 loss at the first leg in Villa Park. This result sent the game to penalty shootouts.

West Bromwich missed two penalties by Mason Holgate and Ahmed Hegazi while Albert Adomah missed a penalty for Aston Villa.

Aston Villa reached the final for the second year in a row but they hope for a different destiny as they lost the final last year to Fulham.

“I was part of it last time. We know how it feels to lose. I have the experience of it. It’s no good going on a good run and then going to Wembley and falling at the final hurdle again. I truly believe we can get promoted.” Aston Villa’s captain, Jack Grealish, told press after the game.

Aston Villa will face the winner between Derby County and Leeds United.
