Messi is the best, Villa

CAIRO – 15 April 2019: Former Barcelona striker, David Villa, revealed on Monday that his former teammate, Lionel Messi, is the best player of all time.

"Leo Messi is the greatest player of all time, obviously with the likes of Pele, Diego Maradona and Johan Cruyff, I didn't have the chance to watch them like I used to see Messi every day, in every game, but, in my opinion, Messi's the best.” Villa said on Monday.

Villa joined Barcelona in 2010 and shared the dressing room with Messi for three years and they dominated the Spanish football.

Villa added “Barcelona owes its success to his evolution: a direct style of passing play based on possession."

During Villa’s time in Barcelona, he formed a massive partnership with Messi and Pedro Rodriguez that led the team to win two Spanish League titles, two Spanish Super Cup titles, 2012 Spanish Cup title, 2011 UEFA Super Cup title, 2011 FIFA Club World Cup title.

Their most decorated title was achieving 2011 UEFA Champions League when they defeated Manchester United 3-1 at the final with Pedro, Messi and Villa scoring the three goals.
