We have a big chance to reach quarter finals, Lasarte

CAIRO – 13 February 2019: Al-Ahly manager, Martin Lasarte, revealed on Wednesday that his team still has a big chance to reach CAF Champions League Quarter Finals despite their 1-0 loss to Simba in Tanzania on Tuesday.

“We had a good game against Simba but we failed to break their defense and score.” Lasarte told Al-Ahly official website on Wednesday.

Al-Ahly suffered their first loss at the group stage after two victories at home over Vita Club and Simba and a draw in Algeria against JS Saoura.

Lasarte added” Our target is to reach the quarter finals and we will do everything to win our remaining games.”

Al-Ahly is set to play two games at the group against Vita Club in Angola and JS Saoura in Egypt.

Despite the loss, Al-Ahly is leading the group with seven points, one point ahead of Simba, two points ahead of JS Saoura while Vita Club stays at the bottom of the group with four points.

Al-Ahly failed to achieve their ninth title at the competition as they lost the last two Champions League Finals to Wydad Casablanca and Esperence, respectively.
