CAIRO - 15 January 2019: Egypt defeated Argentina 22-20 on Monday night to achieve their first victory at the 2019 World Men's Handball Championship held in Denmark and Germany.
Argentina ended the first half leading the game 9-8 but the Egyptian team dominated the second half to win the game 22-20.
Egypt achieved their first victory at the tournament to keep their chances to reach the second round a live as they started the competition with two losses against Sweden and Qatar, respectively.
The World Cup draw put Egypt in Group D alongside Sweden, Hungary, Qatar, Argentina and Angola.
The Egyptian team has had a great performance against four-time world champions, Sweden, and they were close to get at least a draw against the European giants but the team's lack of experience cost Egypt the game at the last minutes.
Egyptian fans expected another fine display against Qatar but the team’s performance was disappointing and Egypt lost the game 28-23.
Egypt’s remaining games at the group stage will be on Wednesday and Thursday against Hungary and Angola, respectively.
