Pyramids players celebrate winning over Al-Ahly - FILE
CAIRO, 5 January 2019: As many expected before the game, Pyramids FC defeated Al-Ahly 2-1 in a postponed game from the 8th round of the Egyptian League, on Friday night, in magnificent come-back especially in the second half.
Pyramids FC, which announced the signing of Egypt’s best player Abdallah el-Said hours before the match, dominated the second half through their skillful Brazilian player, Keno, and the winger Mohamed Farouk.
Al-Ahly was better in the first half and generated dangerous chances to Pyramids’ defense which led to the first goal through Walid Azaro’s header who received Ali Maaloul cross perfectly.
But in the second half, Mohamed Farouk was on time and used Al-Ahly’s goalkeeper’s, Mohamed el-Shenawy, mistake and headed Aballah el-Said’s cross to level the score in the 47th minute.
El-Said, former Al-Ahly play-maker, was definitely Man of the Match when he scored the winner in the 57th minute through a powerful shot full of meanings against a club gave him everything.
He witnessed a stressful year when left Al-Ahly last season as he signed a contract to join Zamalek but it all went to a chaos after Al-Ahly’s fans threatened the international player to make him move to Saudi Arabia with the help of Turk Al-Sheikh, Pyramids FC owner.
The 33-years-old revisited Al-Ahly’s net for the second time after 12 years, when he was wearing Ismaily’s jersey, in 2007’s 3-0 thrash at Cairo Stadium.
This is Hossam Hassan’s, Pyramids FC manager, fifth victory over the Reds; three of them was with Al-Masry and once with Ettihad Alexandria.
It wasn’t a good start for Al-Ahly’s new coach, Martin Lasarte, as he became the first coach to lose with Al-Ahly in his first game ten years ago.
Ten years ago, Hosam el-Badry was the coach who lost his first game with Al-Ahly against Haras el-Hedoud in Egypt’s Super Cup. He was meant to watch Lasarte’s first loss but now from the stands as he is currently Pyramids’ president.
