File – Hossam Ghaly announes retirement
CAIRO – 27 December 2018: El Gouna FC announced that they hired former Al-Ahly’s captain, Hossam Ghaly, to be the club’s football director.
Ghaly was the general coordinator of Al Ahly's football sector earlier before leaving.
Nader Shawky, Hossam Ghaly’s former agent, is the owner of ‘Eleven’ company which runs El Gouna club.
El Gouna places 16th in the Egyptian League’s standings with 16 points after playing 17 matches this season.
Ghaly announced his retirement from football at the end of the last season.
During Ghaly’s time with Al Ahly, he won four Egyptian Champion titles, two Egyptian Cup titles, three Egyptian Super Cup titles, two CAF Champions League titles, one CAF Super Cup and Africa Cup, and one CAF Confederation Cup.
Al Ahly former captain played for several football clubs such as Feyenoord Rotterdam, Tottenham Spurs, Al Nasr Riyadh, and Lierse SK.
Ghaly played 55 international games with the Egyptian national team. He joined the national team in 2002 and was part of the squad in the 2004 and 2010 African Cup of Nations.
