CAIRO – 19 December 2018: Al-Ahly's goalkeeper, Sherif Ekramy, returned to Al-Ahly training sessions on Wednesday And he is fit to play against Ethiopia’s Jimma at the CAF Champions League round of 32 second leg on Sunday.
The goalkeeper suffered a muscle injury during the first leg that ended with a 2-0 victory for Al-Ahly.
On the other hand, Al-Ahly defenders, Saad Samir and Mohamed Naguib, will not travel with the team delegation to Ethiopia as they are not totally recovered.
Al-Ahly caretaker manager, Mohamed Youssef, believes in his team’s ability to achieve a good result in Ethiopia, he said "It will be a tough game but I am sure that the players will do everything they can to achieve a good result.”
Al-Ahly needs to achieve a victory, a draw or a loss with less than 2 goals to avoid the hosts’ surprises and win direct qualification to the group stage.
Youssef added, "We gained much confidence through the victories we had achieved at the domestic league and it is a great motivation to us to return to the right track in the African competitions.”
Al-Ahly lost the last two CAF Champions League Finals; the first to Wydad Casablanca and the second to Tunisian giants, Esperance.
