CAIRO – 18 December 2018: Al-Ain Croatian manager, Zoran Mamić, announced on Tuesday the team's starting line-up for the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final clash against River Plate.
Al-Ain's Egyptian winger, Hussein el-Shahat, is leading the team's attacking line alongside Brazilian winger, Caio Fernandez, and veteran Swedish striker, Marcus Berg.
Al-Ain has had an amazing run at the tournament as they defeated New Zealand’s Team Wellington at the first round by penalty shoot-outs.
After 40 minutes from the start, Wellington were leading 3-0 but Al-Ain players scored three goals to equalize the score and took the game to penalty shoot-outs.
Their second game was against CAF Champions League winners, Espérance, and everyone was expecting an easy victory for the experienced Tunisian team.
However, Al-Ain players destroyed their opponent and had a fantastic game that made their fans believe in the team’s ability to reach the final.
Al-Ain defeated Espérance 3-0 and Shahat scored his team’s second goal in the game.
Mamić’s chosen starting line-up for the game consists of: Khalid Eisa, Ismail Ahmed, Tongo Doumbia, Ahmed Barman, Mohammed Fayez, Mohamed Abdulrahman, Mohamed Ahmed, Tsukasa Shiotani, Caio, Berg and Shahat.
Al-Ain opponents, River Plate, qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup as Copa Libertadores champions.
