CAIRO – 17 December 2018: The UEFA Champions League round of 16 draw resulted in a tough clash for Liverpool’s Egyptian winger, Mohamed Salah and his teammates.

The draw put Liverpool against the five-time Champions League winners, Bayern Munich.

Liverpool fans put all their hopes to reach the quarter finals on the shoulder of their Egyptian winger who played a crucial role in their qualification to this round as he scored their only goal against Napoli at their last group stage game.

Salah has a satisfying record against German teams as he scored two goals and provided an assist during his six games against German clubs.

Salah’s first clash against Germans was in 2013 when his club, FC Basel, met Germany’s FC Schalke in UEFA Champions League. Salah’s team lost both games 1-0 and 2-0 and the Egyptian failed to save his team from losing the games.
Salah left Basel in 2014 to join Chelsea and then he went to play for Fiorentina in Italy before his departure to the Capital to represent their ginats, Roma.

During his time in Roma, his team faced Germany’s Bayer 04 Leverkusen at 2016 the UEFA Champions' League Group stage.

The first game in Germany ended with a 4-4 draw; Salah played 62 minutes and he failed to find the back of the net.

At the second game in Italy, Salah led his team to a 3-2 victory over the Germans as he opened the score after two minutes from the start.

Salah left Roma to join the English giants, Liverpool, in summer 2017 and his team faced Germany’s 1899 Hoffenheim at the play-off round.

The first leg in Germany ended with a 2-1 victory for Liverpool but Salah failed to score for his club. Salah’s goal came at the second leg when his goal led his team to a 4-2 victory over the Germans.

Salah and his teammates, who started the competition from the play-off round, reached the final and lost 3-1 to Real Madrid.

Salah faced Bayern Munich twice but in friendly games; the first game was in 2013 when he was playing for Basel and his team lost 3-0 and the second game was in 2017 after he joined Liverpool and his team won 3-1, with Salah scoring the second goal.
