Black ball Squash Men's Tournament kicks off in Cairo

CAIRO – 3 December 2018: Black ball Squash Men's Tournament will start on Monday night at Blackpool squash club in Fifth Settlement, Cairo and the Egyptian players are the main contenders for the title.

Black ball tournament is one of the major squash competitions with prizes worth $180,000.

A total of 17 Egyptian players will participate at the competition including Mohamed el-Shorbagy who is currently ranked world No. 1 in men's singles squash.

Shorbagy is the main contender for the title but he is expected to find a tough competition from his fellow Egyptians, Ali Farag, Tarek Moamen, Karim Abdel Gawad and Mohamed Abol Ghar, while Ramy Ashour and Marwan el-Shorbagy are ruled out of the competition for injury.

A total of 48 players will battle for the title including Germany’s Simon Rösner, Colombia’s Miguel Angel Rodriguez and New Zealand's Paul Coll who come among the top 10 players in the world.

Black ball Squash Women’s Tournament is set to take place in March and is expected to be among the biggest tournaments in the world.

The tournament runs from Dec. 3-9.
