Cairo, 25 November 2018: Al Ahly came close to announcing the new coach after the dismissal of Frenchman Patrice Cartiron and temporarily assigning the task to his assistant Mohamed Youssef.

“We’ll announce the new coach within 10 days,” Mohamed Morgan, Executive Director of Al Ahly SC, said in a radio interview with the pundit, Ahmed Shobeir.

“Mahmoud el-Khatib, Al-Ahly’s president, follows up the assigning of new coach despite undergoing a surgery in Germany,” he added.

Al-Ahly witnessed a tough week as they recently knocked out from the 16th round of the Arab club championship on Thursday after they ended their game against Emirati club, Al-Wasl, with a 1-1 draw to say bye to the Arabian tournament.

Carteron also failed in the final game of the CAF Champions League as Al-Ahly lost 0-3 against ES Tunis at Rades stadium.

The French coach has been on Al-Ahly's bench for only five months. He managed to play 21 games; won 12, lost 3 and 6 games ended with a draw.

Sayed Abdelhafiz, Al-Ahly's director of football, fined Hossam Ashour and Moamen Zakaraia after he had clashed with the Moroccan referee, Nour eddine Jaafari, after the end of the Reds and Al Wasl match in which he was sent-off and saw Al Ahly’s exit from the 16th Round of the Arabian tournament.

Youssef declared that he repeated the fine over Al-Ahly's players for the second time in just a week after the African failure.

Al-Ahly prepares for the next game against Al-Mokawlon Al-Arab in the 16th round of the Egyptian league next Tuesday.
