Egypt beats Algeria in opener of Arab Basketball Championship

CAIRO, Nov 7 (MENA) - Egypt defeated Algeria 69-62 at the opening match of the 23rd Arab Men’s Basketball Championship, which runs from Nov. 7 to 17 at Cairo International Stadium.

Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi, President of the Egyptian Basketball Federation Magdy Abou Farikha and the federation's vice president Mohamed Abdel-Motaleb attended the tournament's inauguration ceremony.

In their second encounter, the Pharaohs will play against the UAE on Friday.

Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are also participating in the Arab championship, which comes ahead of the African qualifiers for the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China. (MENA)
