CAIRO – 29 May 2017: Ronaldo’s video with the Egyptian steel company Hadeed Al-Masryeen promoting Egypt attracts 350 million viewers Hadeed Al-Masryeen selected the 32-year-old Portuguese well-known player and hero of Real Madrid and Portugal’s national team to star in a promotional advertisement on Egypt.

The advertisement which premiered on Saturday May 27, 2017 showed Ronaldo promoting tourism in Egypt through visiting tourist attractions to demonstrate that it should be number one in tourism in the world. In addition to the Pyramids, Ronaldo visited Qasr El-Nile Bridge and Khan EL-Khalili Street, and played football with some boys in the street.

This promotional campaign plays a vital role in spreading a message to the whole world that Egypt is a country of peace and is a welcoming, safe country. The advertisement encourages tourism and investments in Egypt, especially that at least 350 million of Ronaldo’s followers on various social media outlets saw this advertisement.

This campaign comes in less than a month after Ronaldo’s tweet on a new project with businessman Mohamed Abu Hashima. In addition, on May 18, 2017 Ronaldo’s family visited Egypt to attend the opening of the largest water park in the Middle East in Sharm el-Sheikh.

In February 2017, the star football player Lionel Messi visited Egypt to promote the local treatment for Hepatitis C and tourism.
