CAIRO – 30 October 2018: In the heart of the Catalan Capital, Barcelona, where many football legends showed their best at the beautiful game, a small sized restaurant has won its fame throughout history until it became known as “Barcelona restaurant.”

Maria Plaza, the owner of “Can Fusté”, inherited the restaurant from her father, Fernando, who was a diehard Barcelona fan.

During a visit to the beautiful place, Maria told us many of the secrets of the club's legends who were regular customers of her restaurant.

Maria devoted a table for souvenirs she received from the former players, including three jerseys of Barcelona, Espanyol and the Spanish national team beside an old ball from a Barcelona game in 1965 that her father got from one of Barcelona's players.

Barcelona midfielder and one of the club captains, Gerard Pique, is a favorite customer who sees the restaurant as home.

Pique used to visit the restaurant with his friends but he never accompanied his wife, Shakira, to the place because she is always busy.

Maria also told us about Barcelona former striker, Quini, who was their neighbor and was kidnapped in 1981. Maria and her dad opened the restaurant the whole two weeks to receive journalists who visited the player’s family.

Maria spoke about the players’ food habits and she revealed that most of them prefer Ham, including Barcelona historic captain, Carles Puyol who is kind, polite and friendly like his former manager in Barcelona and current Man City manager, Pep Guardiola, according to Maria.

Puyol prefers eating lobster and the expensive seafood, saying that “he is a rich man.”

The former captain of Barcelona always visits the restaurant with his friends, including players who represented Barcelona arch rivals, Real Madrid, but when he does that he chooses a special room; she added that Pique is a friendly man who prefers the hall. Maria also described Barcelona’s star, Lionel Messi, as a shy person.

Asked about her opinion on Catalonia independence, Maria said “Catalonia is part of Spain and whoever wants independence is not a true Catalan. We speak our own language beside the Spanish language but it is a good thing that enriches one’s soul. I have three children who speak Catalan, Spanish, English and French.”

Maria has a beautiful portrait of Camp No with Barcelona jersey at one side of the stands and the Catalan flag on the other side.
