CAIRO – 29 October 2018: Al-Ahly assistant coach, Mohamed Youssef, sent a clear message to Al-Ahly fans to show their respect to Tunisian giants, Espérance, ahead of their clash against Al-Ahly at the CAF Champions League final.
“We have to show much respect for Espérance. They are a tough team with huge experience at this kind of games. We do not expect that our history of victories against them in the recent years will help us to win the game,” Youssef told Al-Ahly Official website on Monday.
Al-Ahly has a brilliant history with Espérance as they achieved victory against the Tunisian giants six times during their 16 games against each other at African competitions, while Espérance achieved only three victories.
Youssef added “Our players are focused on the game and we will do everything we can to make them ready for the final.”
Youssef calmed Al-Ahly fans after the team’s 2-2 draw against Emirati club, Al-Wasl, in Cairo at the round of 16 at the Arab Club Championship.
He said “We could have achieved a better result at the game but we still have another game in UAE and we will deal with our mistakes in the game.”
Al-Ahly will host Espérance on November 2 at the CAF Champions League final first leg while the second leg will be played a week later in Tunisia.
