CAIRO – 13 August 2018: Al-Ahly’s coach, Patrice Carteron, believes that Al-Ahly’s goal is to win the Arab Club Champions Cup.

The Reds are set to face Lebanon’s Nejmeh SC in the 32nd round on Monday night at Borg El Arab stadium at 08:00 p.m. (CLT).

“The coaching staff studied Lebanon’s Nejmeh well; we put the suitable formation for the match,” Carteron said to Al-Ahly’s official website.

“The team has a great ambition to win the Arab Cup, and there is great enthusiasm among all to start the championship in the best way,” Carteron added.

Cartieron pointed out that the current version of the tournament is very strong, and the coaching staff and the players are keen to compete for the title, pointing out that the team has the elements capable of achieving the title.

Carteron’s chosen squad for the game consists of Sherif Ekramy, Mohamed el-Shennawy, Ali Lotfi, Ahmed Fathi, Mohamed Hany, Saad Samir, Ayman Ashraf, Mohamed Naguib, Sabry Rahil, Hossam Ashour, Ahmed Hamoudi, Hesham Mohamed, Mido Gaber, Akram Tawfik, Ahmed Hamdy, Karim Nedved, Walid Soliman, Moamen Zakaria, Nasser Maher, Mohamed Sherif, Marwan Mohsen and Salah Mohsen.

Al-Ahly hopes to influence the Egyptian teams’ results at the competition after Zamalek and Al-Ittihad ended their games with a draw against Qadsia and Espérance respectively, while Ismaily will face Kuwait on Sunday night at Ismailia.

Al-Ahly was knocked out of the competition last season at semi-finals losing to Jordan’s Al-Faisaly 2-1.
