CAIRO – 9 August 2018: Former Manchester United midfielder, Paul Scholes, believes that his team will struggle this season and that they will not be able to achieve the Premier League title this season.

“I don't see them challenging for the league this year. You don't really know the team, you don't really know the players, and you don't know how they're going to perform from one week to the next,” Scholes told the press on Monday.

Manchester United has not been able to achieve the Premier League title since 2013 when their legend, Sir Alex Ferguson, was the team manager.

Scholes added: “When you look at Manchester City, possibly Liverpool, I don't think Manchester United has the quality of those two teams at the minute.”

Manchester United’s Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho’s attitude during the pre-season was disappointing for the club’s fans as the manager criticized the board after their failure to sign the players he wanted.

Scholes commented on Mourinho’s attitude saying: “He is in a difficult position now I think, but he needs to try to find a way to get out of it and he needs to get off to a good start this season.”

Manchester United will open their campaign at the League on Friday night at home against Leicester City.
