CAIRO – 05 August 2018: Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, who lost with his team in the 2018 World Cup final in Russia against France 2-4, will meet next Wednesday with Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Perez, to discuss his possible departure from Real Madrid and his signing for Inter Milan.
This is stated on Sunday by the Italian newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport", which ensures that the doubts about the future of Modric could be resolved next week.
According to the newspaper, the white club would not be willing to let Modric go so easily, although if the Croatian player asks Florentino to leave Real Madrid, that would not put obstacles in his way.
In the meantime, the "Nerazzurri" are waiting for Modric's situation with the white team to resolve before they sit down to negotiate terms with the player's agents.
"A player of that level would be important for any team, imagine for ours," said Inter’s coach, Luciano Spalletti, according to the same Italian newspaper.
Modric has a contract with Real Madrid until 2020 and his release clause is €750 million.
Croatia's captain led his team to their first World Cup final surpassing the Croatian achievement in the 1998 World Cup when they finished third.
Modric was named the best player in the tournament.
