CAIRO – 6 July 2018: Egypt’s amazing run at 2018 FIBA U 17 World Cup stumbled as they lost to Croatia 68-55 at FIBA U17 World Cup round of 16.
Croatia was the better side at the first quarter and they were leading the score 20-11 but the Egyptians returned in the game at the second quarter scoring 13 points while Croatia scored only two after six minutes but Egyptians failed to carry on their lead and finished the second quarter losing 34-29.
Croatia continued their dominance at the third and four quarters to win the game 68-55.
Youssef Osama was the best player from Egypt scoring 17 points while Croatia’s Ivan Perasovic scored 22 points.
Egyptian team is set to face Dominican Republic on Friday at 9–16th classification playoffs.
The draw put Egypt in Group C alongside Canada, Montenegro, and New Zeeland.
Egypt started the tournament with a victory over New Zeeland before losing to Canada and Montenegro respectively.
Argentna host the tournament between 30 June and 8 July.
