CAIRO - 18 May 2017: Renowned Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova responded to the French Open’s decision of not giving her the wild card to the Grand Slam tournament, saying "If this is what it takes to rise up again, then I am in it all the way, every day," she wrote on her Twitter account.
"No words, games, or actions will ever stop me from reaching my own dreams. And I have many," Sharapova added.
Sharapova's hopes of a dream return from the doping exile to a third French Open crown were shattered on Tuesday when she was surprisingly refused a wild card by organizers, according to Reuters.
After returning from a 15 month doping ban, she managed to play in Stuttgart, Madrid and Rome, but was forced to retire Wednesday from her match against Mirjana Lucic-Baroni in the second round of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia due to her injury.
