CAIRO – 18 May 2017: Al-Ahly SC coach Hossam al-Badry gave an initial nod for Tunisian Ali Maaloul to leave Al-Ahly by the end of this season on $2 million, a source in Al-Ahly claimed Thursday.
It added that Badry’s decision came after Al-Ahly had secured Smouha's striker Ayman Ashraf on a free-transfer this summer, who will serve as a suitable replacement for Maaloul.
Meanwhile, Maaloul will stay in Al-Ahly only if the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) would allow Premier clubs to have more than three foreign-born players in the club’s slates for the upcoming season.
Maaloul joined Al-Ahly from Tunisian CS Sfaxien in 2016. The 27 year-old finished the 2015/16 season as the top scorer for the Tunisian League with 16 goals.
