CAIRO – 25 June 2018: Egypt will face Saudi Arabia at their last game at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The game is set to be played on Monday at 4 p.m. in Volgograd Arena.
Egypt national team manager, Hector Cuper, decided not to make changes to the team’s line-up that lost 3-1 to Russia except for the goalkeeping position.
Cuper gave the chance to veteran goalkeeper, Essam el-Hadary, who started the tournament as Egypt’s second choice goalkeeper, to play his first game at the tournament.
Hadary, who turned 45 last January, will be the oldest player ever to participate in the World Cup surpassing Colombian goalkeeper, Faryd Mondragón’s record when he played at a World Cup match at the age of 43 years and 3 days.
Cuper’s chosen squad for the game consists of: Essam el-Hadary, Ali Gabr, Ahmed Hegazi, Moamed Abdel Shafi, Ahmed Fathy, Tarek Hamed, Mohamed el-Neny, Abdullah el-Said, Mahmoud Trezeguet, Maewan Mohsen and Mohamed Salah.
Egyptian players are searching for their first victory at the tournament as Egypt played six games at the World Cup, lost four games and ended two games with a draw.
On the other hand, Saudi Arabia manager, Antonio Pizzi, decided to start with the team’s third choice goalkeeper, Yasser al-Mosailem, who will be the third Saudi Arabian goalkeeper to feature in the tournament.
Pizzi’s chosen squad for the game consists of: Yasser al-Mosailem , Moataz Hawsawi, Osama Hawsawi, Mohammed al-Breik, Yasser el-Shahrani , Fahad al-Muwallad, Salem al-Dawsari, Abdullah Otayf, Salman al-Faraj, Hattan Bahebri and Housain al-Mogahwi.
