CAIRO – 4 June 2018: Egypt national team manager, Hector Cuper, announced on Monday the 23-player list that will represent Egypt at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Liverpool Egyptian winger, Mohamed Salah, who suffered a shoulder injury during the Champions League final, is included in the list.

Egypt’s chosen squad for the World Cup consists of:

Goalkeepers:
Essam el Hadary, Sherif Ekramy and Mohamed el Shennawy

Defenders:
Saad Samir, Ahmed Hegazi, Omar Gaber, Ali Gabr, Mohamed Abdel Shafy, Ayman Ashraf, Ahmed Fathy, Mahmoud Hamdy and Ahmed el Mohamady.

Midfielders:
Sam Morsy, Mohamed el Neny, Tarek Hamed, Abdullah el Said, Mahmoud Hassan known as Trezeguet, Amr Warda, Mahmoud Abdel Razek known as Shikabala and Ramadan Sobhy.

Strikers:
Mahmoud Abdel Monem known as Kahraba, Marwan Mohsen and Mohamed Salah.

Cuper dropped six players who were included in the preliminary list; the players are: Ahmed Hassan Known as Koka, Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, Karim Hafez, Amr Tarek, Ahmed Gomaa and Mohamed Awad.

Egypt will appear at the World Cup for the third time in history and the first time since 1990.

The World Cup draw put Egypt in Group A alongside Saudi Arabia, Russia and Uruguay.

Egypt will open their participation at the tournament on June 15 against Uruguay.
