CAIRO – 29 May 2018: Sevilla announced on Monday that they have reached an agreement with Spanish manager Pablo Machin to be in charge of the first team. Machin signed a two-year contract with the club.
“Pablo Machin will be the new manager of Sevilla FC. The Nervionenses and Machin have reached an agreement for the next two seasons, with the coach joining after three and a half years of success at Girona FC,” the club said in a statement on Monday.
Machin has started a revolution inside Girona since he was appointed in 2014. He led the team to seal promotion to the Spanish top division in 2017 and his success continued in the next season when they finished 10th in the League.
Sevilla had suffered a disastrous season on the domestic level. They finished the League in the seventh position with 58 points, two points behind their local rivals, Real Betis. Sevilla also lost 5-0 to Barcelona in the Spanish Cup final.
Machin will succeed the sacked Italian manager, Vincenzo Montella, who left the club after the loss in Spanish Cup final.
