Salah gives us a bigger chance to win: Wijnaldum

CAIRO – 25 May 2018: Liverpool Dutch midfielder, Georginio Wijnaldum, admitted that Mohamed Salah’s performance this season gives the team a bigger chance to win when they face Real Madrid at the UEFA Champions League Final.

“Mo (Salah) has been incredible this season, the way he has scored goals has been unbelievable, not only for him, but also for us and the supporters. I really hope he can do it in the final, because it will help us and give us a bigger chance to win," Wijnaldum told ESPN on Thursday.

Salah has had a stunning debut season with Liverpool, scoring 44 goals in all competitions, including 32 goals at the league that crowned him the Premier League top goal scorer.

Salah shined this season at the UEFA Champions League, scoring 10 goals at the competition. His best performance came against his former club at the semi-finals first leg when he scored two goals, provided two assists to lead his team to win 5-2.



Asked about the comparison between Salah and Ballon d’Or winners, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Wijnaldum said “It's difficult to say. Messi and Ronaldo do it for years, but this season, he can definitely compete with them.”

Salah is expected to be one of the contenders for Ballon d’Or award especially if he manages to win the Champions League title.

“But if you want to speak about the level of Messi and Ronaldo, a player has to do it for many more years,” added Wijnaldum.
