CAIRO – 15 May 2018: El-Gaish defeated the league champions, Al-Ahly, on penalties in the Egyptian Handball Cup semi-final on Monday.
The first half ended with a 15-15 draw and both teams failed to decide the game in the second half, ending the regular time with a 30-30 draw.
Each team scored only one goal in the first overtime, which ended with a 31-31 draw, and each team also scored another goal to end the second overtime with a 32-32 draw.
Al-Ahly led the game in the third overtime, scoring two goals, but El-Gaish managed to score a late goal to end the third overtime score 34-33 for Al-Ahly.
El-Gaish returned in the game in the fourth overtime, scoring two goals, while Al-Ahly scored only one goal to make the score 35-35, and then the game went into a penalty shootout.
El-Gaish won the game on penalties after scoring two goals, while Al-Ahly scored only one goal.
Al-Ahly failed to achieve the domestic double, as they defeated Zamalek 27-26 in the title playoff match of the Egyptian Handball League on May 7.
El-Gaish is set to meet Smouha in the final on Tuesday in Suez.
