CAIRO – 9 May 2018: The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Wednesday the members of its Team of the Week after the first round of the Champions League group stage.
Al-Ahly midfielder Ahmed Fathy was named on the team after his performance against Tunisia’s Espérance on Friday.
Fathy started the game as a right back but played as a midfielder after 20 minutes when Amr El Solia left the field injured.
Fathy was a vital player and his performance helped Al-Ahly dominate the game in the second half. He also created many chances for the strikers, but they failed to score the winning goal for Al-Ahly.
CAF also chose Espérance’s veteran defender, Chamseddine Dhaouadi, for the team after he helped his team return home with a precious point after a vital draw.
