CAIRO – 8 May 2018: Barcelona Spanish Captain, Andres Iniesta, participated in his last game against Real Madrid on Sunday night after his decision to leave Barcelona by the end of the season.
Iniesta granted his shirt after the game to Real Madrid's captain and his teammate at the Spanish national team, Sergio Ramos.
Ramos posted a photo after the game holding Iniesta’s shirt; he captioned the photo “Beyond what happened on the pitch, last night will be remembered as Iniesta's Clásico. You will be missed, my friend.”
Despite the rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid, Iniesta and Ramos had great moments together at the national team.
They won the UEFA EURO 2008, UEFA EURO 2012 and they won Spain’s only World Cup title in 2010 in South Africa, defeating Netherlands 1-0 at the final with Iniesta scoring the winning goal.
Both players will lead the Spanish national team at the 2018 World Cup in Russia which is expected to be Iniesta’s last participation with the national team.
Real Madrid returned from Barcelona with a 2-2 draw and they failed to put an end to the Catalans' unbeaten run at the League.
