CAIRO – 7 May 2018: Saudi Arabian team Al-Ahli lost 2-1 to Qatar’s Al-Sadd on Monday night in the first leg of the AFC Champions League round of 16 at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Qatar.

Al-Ahli’s Egyptian winger, Moamen Zakaria, started the game on the bench but participated in the last minutes of the first half when his team was losing 2-0.

Al-Sadd started the game with a massive attacking line of Boualem Khoukhi, Hassan Al-Haydos, Baghdad Bounedjah and Xavi Hernandez.

The Qatari team needed only three minutes to open the score by Boualem, who received a great assist from Xavi to make the score 1-0.

Boualem doubled the score 20 minutes later when he met a cross from Bounedjah by a stunning header, making the score 2-0.

Al-Ahli players had many chances to score their first goal before the half time, but Al-Sadd’s defense blocked all their attempts to end the first half 2-0 for Al-Sadd.

Al-Ahli players returned in the game in the second half and they only needed two minutes to score when Muhanad Asiri met a cross from the right wing to make the score 2-1.

Both teams had many chances to score in the remaining minutes, but their strikers missed many clear attempts, ending the game 2-1 for the hosts.

The second leg will be on May 14 at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah.
