CAIRO – 03 May 2018: Al-Ahly’s captain, Hossam Ghaly, invited Brazilian legend, Ricardo Kaka, and Egyptian retired winger and former Al-Ahly legend, Mohamed Barakat, to attend his retirement testimonial.
Ghaly’s retirement match is scheduled for May 11 against Ajax Amsterdam at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old also invited his former teammate, Emad Moteb, who plays in the Saudi club, Al-Tawon and former Zamalek coach, player and former Ajax attacker, Ahmed Hossam (known as Mido).
Al-Ahly captain announced that he would retire at the end of the current season, although Hossam al-Badri, the team’s coach, welcomed the player to stay for another season.
Ghaly returned to Al-Ahly last January after ending his contract with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nasr. He will be appointed Al-Ahly’s general coordinator after his retirement.
The midfielder joined Al-Ahly at the age of 15 from Biyala, Kafr el-Sheikh, and got promoted through the club rankings until he joined the first team at 19.
Ghaly established himself as one of the best midfielders in the history of the club; he also had many spells abroad. He represented Feyenoord, Tottenham Hotspur, Derby County, Al Nasr and Lierse.
