CAIRO – 3 May 2018: Real Madrid’s German midfielder, Toni Kroos, showed his admiration for the performance of his former team, Bayern Munich, against his current team in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday night.
“They produced some great football and created many chances. Bayern played very well in both matches, but we deserve this; we've worked hard all season," Kroos told press on Wednesday.
Despite their 2-1 loss in the first leg in Munich, Bayern Munich played a great game against the home team, Real Madrid, and they needed just one more goal to reach the final.
Bayern opened the score after two minutes with a goal by Joshua Kimmich, but Karim Benzema scored two goals for Real Madrid to make Bayern’s mission harder.
The German team made the score 2-2 through James Rodriguez, but they failed to add another goal in the remaining minutes, putting an end to their run in the competition.
“It's important to believe in ourselves and we know we can score at any given moment. In these two matches, we showed just how effective we are," Kroos added.
