CAIRO – 2 May 2018: Brazilian legend Ronaldo Luis Nazario believes that Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta is the best Spanish player in history.
“He'll go down as the best Spanish player in history; I don't remember seeing another Spanish player with so much quality, with so many attributes, and that is why many people love him," Ronaldo told Spanish sports radio program El Larguero on Tuesday.
Iniesta, who announced he will be leaving Barcelona at the end of the season, has had an amazing career on both the club and international levels.
The player achieved the UEFA EURO 2008 and 2012 titles and played a main role in Spain’s 2010 World Cup win, scoring their only goal in the final against Netherlands, leading Spain to achieve their first World Cup.
The midfielder also had a stunning career with his club, Barcelona, winning four Champions League titles, six Spanish Cup titles and nine Spanish League titles.
Asked about whether Iniesta deserved to win the Ballon D’Or award, the Brazilian said: “He deserved the Ballon d'Or, but I don't think he needs it.”
The Spaniard was nominated for the award in 2010 but lost to his Barcelona teammate, Lionel Messi.
