CAIRO – 30 April 2018: Mohamed Aboutrika announced on his official Facebook page that he obtained the class A training license on Monday to be able to coach.
Aboutrika was the playmaker of Al-Ahly’s dream team, which managed to win the Egyptian Premier League title for seven years in row from 2004/2005 to 2010/2011, before football activity stopped owing to the 25th January Revolution. He also had a big role in helping Al-Ahly win five CAF Champions League titles.
The former Al-Ahly star joined Al-Ahly in 2003 coming from Tersana, before he left the club in January 2013 to join UAE’s Baniyas on a short loan transfer after football activity stopped in Egypt for the second time following the Port Said massacre. Aboutrika returned to Al-Ahly after the loan duration ended and he retired in January 2014.
The retirement ceremony of Al-Ahly captain Hossam Ghaly will witness the appearance of Aboutrika, alongside former Al-Ahly striker Emad Moteab, another player from the dream team. The ceremony is scheduled to be hosted at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in the United Arab Emirates on May 11 against the Dutch club Ajax.
Aboutrika decided to enter the world of sports analysis as his next step after retiring from football, and he is now expected to take another step toward coaching after receiving his license.
