We promise fans to achieve cup: Ayoub

CAIRO – 27 April 2018: Al-Ahly assistant manager Ahmed Ayoub revealed on Friday that the team has gotten past their loss against Zamalek on Thursday night in the Cairo Derby and started to focus on the Egyptian Cup competition.

“We promise the fans to achieve the cup and win the double for the second season in a row,” Ayoub told Al-Ahly’s official website.

Zamalek won 2-1 over Al-Ahly in the Premier League Cairo Derby played at Cairo Stadium on Thursday night. This was the first victory for Zamalek against Al-Ahly in the Egyptian League since 2007.

Ayoub added, “Our focus now is on the Egyptian Cup game against Alassiouty Sport. It is a tough game during our journey to win the cup, and achieving victory in the game will make us closer to achieve the cup title.”

Ayoub refused fans’ criticism of Al-Ahly players after the derby loss, saying, “These players achieved the league title and they are having an amazing run in the CAF Champions League competition.”

Al-Ahly already achieved the Egyptian League title in March, six fixtures before the end of the season.
