CAIRO – 24 April 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi congratulated Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah on Tuesday after the player won the Player of the Year award from the English Professional Footballers’ Association.
Sisi wrote on his official Twitter account, “I congratulate Egypt’s son, Mohamed Salah, on his achievement, which is a source of pride and assures that the Egyptians’ abilities are astonishing in all fields... I’m proud of him and proud of every Egyptian who raises Egypt’s name high.”
Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian national team’s forward, was named the Player of the Year in the Premier League in a ceremony hosted by the Professional Footballers’ Association in London. The award is delivered to the player who got the most votes, and the voters are the players of the Premier League, the majority of whom agreed that Salah is the best of the current season after he scored 31 goals in the PL.
Salah is expected to win another award in the Premier League, as he now leads the top scorers’ list with 31 goals, 5 goals ahead of his closest competitor, Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur.
