The Egyptian king Mohamed Salah - Egypt Today
CAIRO – 23 April 2018: Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid congratulated Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah after the player won the Professional Footballers' Association’s (PFA) Player of the Year award.
Abu Zeid praised Salah on his official Twitter account, tweeting, “Congrats Mo Salah...a source of national pride and happiness. You are a true inspiration to the youth of Egypt and Africa, an icon of Egypt's soft power. Good luck to you and to our national Pharaohs team at World Cup.”
House of Representatives spokesman Salah Hasaballah also congratulated the Egyptian football player for winning the award.
In a press statement on Monday, Hasaballah said that the Egyptian football legend has made all his fans happy, whether in Britain, Egypt, the Arab world or Africa, MENA reported.
He also said he is proud of Salah, who is the first Egyptian and the second Arab player to win the PFA award after Algerian footballer Riyad Mahrez.
Also, Alaa Abed and Mohamed Amer, heads of the parliamentary committees for human rights and youth and sports, respectively, congratulated Salah on his win, saying that he sets an example for all young people who seek to fulfill their dreams, not only in sports but also in all other fields.
