CAIRO – 17 April 2018: Former Liverpool Dutch striker, Dirk Kuyt, believes that Liverpool's Brazilian striker, Roberto Firmino adds a great value to the team. Kuyt sees the striker as a special talent at Liverpool.
“A typical goal scorer or a different kind of striker, you see that a lot in Europe, but Firmino has his own style and that makes him special,” Kuyt told Liverpool official website on Tuesday.
The Brazilian striker has had a great season with Liverpool scoring 24 goals and providing 11 assists for his teammates.
Firmino’s contributions helped the team to reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2008.
“He’s scoring great goals but he’s also giving great assists and so you are, in my eyes, a complete player who is a great add for Liverpool,” added Kuyt.
The striker has formed a massive attacking partnership with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane and the ex-Dutch striker believes that they should use their individual talents to help the team to win a trophy.
Kuyt said “Players like Firmino and Mo Salah are showing that they are doing really well, but now they want to achieve it as a team. That’s the next step and who knows; maybe they can do it in the Champions League.”
The Champions League semi-finals draw put Liverpool against Italy’s Rome. The first leg is scheduled on Tuesday April 24 in Liverpool and the second leg will be played a week later in Italy.
