CAIRO - 8 May 2017: Parliament unanimously approved anew sports bill Sunday morning which includes 96 articles concerning the regulation of sports organizations, sports club advertisements and investments and moved to counteract stadium riots.

“The new sports law is the second law to be approved unanimously since the law of church construction,” Minister of Youth and Sports Khaled Abdel Aziz said, adding that the draft law has been reviewed by the Council of State.

The most significant articles include:

Article 62:
Public entities and companies should specify a suitable time for employees to practice sports.

Article 65:
The minister shall draft all regulations, procedures and conditions necessary for the establishment and management of talent scouts and sponsorship sports centers to enable them to achieve their mission.

Article 72:
No sports services company shall engage in business without obtaining a license from the administrative authority.

Article 89:
Any person who uses force, violence or threats against a player, referee or a member of a sports organization shall be punished by imprisonment for a period no less than one year and a fine of no less than 50,000 EGP and no more than 100,000 EGP.

Article 92:
Anyone who incites in any way riots among the masses, attacks sports organizations or disrupts sports activities in any manner shall be punished by imprisonment and a fine of no less than 10,000 EGP and no more than 100,000 EGP.
